CSDVRS now accepts emergency calls made to 9-1-1 through its video relay service. To make a call to 9-1-1, add 911VRS.tv to the address book in your videophone.

In case of emergency, all you need to do is click on 911VRS.tv. When CSDVRS receives a call through 911VRS.tv, the next available interpreter will answer this call. You will be asked for your name, your address, the location of the emergency, and the nature of your emergency. The video interpreter will then contact an emergency response center in your area, and relay your information immediately. If your call is disconnected, the video interpreter will call you back.

If you are unable to reach CSDVRS to make a call to 9-1-1, please dial 9-1-1 from a TTY or dial 9-1-1 from any phone and leave the headset off the hook.

CSDVRS supports the Federal Communications Commission’s decision to make 9-1-1 calls accessible through video relay service for all deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

  • CSDVRS is not liable for any error during the emergency call process, nor for any delay in the call process or availability of video interpreters. CSDVRS is also not liable for any error in the transmission or interpretation of any information pertaining to the emergency, including but not limited to: location, identifying information such as names, nature of emergencies, or any other details shared during the call. Additionally, CSDVRS is not liable for any delays or problems with emergency personnel’s arrival or services.
  • WARNING: Please be aware that currently, technical limitations of VRS-based
9-1-1 video calls prevent automatic referral of your location information to
9-1-1 emergency authorities. The need to convey this information manually
increases the amount of time for these calls, as well as the risk of error.
For this reason, CSDVRS recommends for you to dial 9-1-1 from a TTY or use a
traditional TTY relay service to make 9-1-1 calls.
