CSDVRS Introduces vpALERT to compliment rapidly growing Personal 800 service

With vpALERT, Personal 800 customers are paged to notify them that they are about to receive a call on their videophone

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA (October 25, 2007) CSDVRS, a rapidly growing provider of video relay services, launched today a new service called vpALERT.   With vpALERT, Personal 800 customers of CSDVRS are paged to notify them that they are about to receive a call on their videophone.  This innovative service allows customers to be anywhere in the vicinity of their videophone and be notified that someone is about to call them through video relay - as well as telling them the phone number of who's calling.  Using vpALERT, customers should not miss anycalls while they are within nearby walking distance of their videophone and they don't have to rely on visual flashers to signal an incoming call.

The free Personal 800 Service from CSDVRS has become a very large service offering in just 12 months with thousands of users across the United States.   With Personal 800, deaf and hard-of-hearing customers can receive calls from hearing users directly on their videophone by having the hearing user dial their Personal 800 number.   With Personal 800, CSDVRS directly links the Personal 800 number of the deaf user to the IP address of their videophone and automatically places the call so there is no need for the hearing caller to provide any information to the interpreter.   This service has truly revolutionized the simplicity of video relay calls originating from hearing callers.  Here is how a Personal 800 call works:

  1. CSDVRS customer Jane Doe gets an 800 number (ex 800-888-888x) from CSDVRS for free
  2. Jane Doe provides this 800 number to all the hearing people who may want to call her for personal or business reasons (family, friends, doctors, business contacts, etc)
  3. Jane's doctor's office needs to reach Jane to discuss a medical situation and calls Jane on her Personal 800 number - 800-888-888x
  4. A vpALERT is sent to Jane Doe's pager informing her that a call is being placed, right now, to her videophone. The vpALERT gives Jane time to get to her videophone if she happens to be in a different room
  5. A CSDVRS video interpreter places the call to Jane Doe's videophone
  6. Jane answers her videophone

In addition to vpALERT, CSDVRS also provides other complimentary services for Personal 800 customers.  With the service WhoJustCalled, Personal 800 customers are automatically emailed when they "miss a call".  In the email, CSDVRS provides the name and phone number of the party who called.   With the service VideoMail, Personal 800 customers receive video mail from parties if they cannot answer the call.   This videomail is automatically emailed and can be played on any PC or PDA that is supported.

With Personal 800, vpALERT, Who Just Called and VideoMail, CSDVRS is revolutionizing how deaf and hard-of-hearing people can communicate with hearing people without barriers.   Thousands of users and hundreds of businesses rely on these services daily.   To get a Personal 800 number and enjoy these services please visit www.csdvrs.com and sign up for the free services.

About CSDVRS
CSDVRS launched its inaugural service to the nation in 2000. By 2001, CSDVRS was the nation's only 24/7 provider, and was also the first to offer Spanish VRS, video mail and Personal 800 Numbers. CSDVRS was developed by and for deaf and hard of hearing individuals based on feedback from the nation's deaf and hard of hearing community.  CSDVRS recognized that this community had a right to a functionally equivalent way to communicate that was more fluid than the sometimes cumbersome traditional relay service.

Today, CSDVRS stands alone as the pioneers of the VRS industry. While other providers have followed our lead, CSDVRS is dedicated to that same spirit of innovation and commitment to excellence that took VRS from a dream, to reality, to the nation's premier VRS provider.
